The Issues

Practical Solutions for Real Michigan Families

Gary Anderson believes the role of government is straightforward: protect freedom, respect taxpayers, and let local communities thrive.

As State Representative, he will focus on issues that directly affect families and businesses in the 101st District. Gary’s approach is simple: fewer headlines, more results — and policies that make sense for the people who actually live here.

Returning Local Control

Decisions about schools, land use, and community priorities should be made locally — not dictated by Lansing bureaucrats. Gary will oppose one-size-fits-all mandates and support policies that respect local voices and local needs.

Property Tax Relief & Reform

For families on fixed incomes, farmers, and young homeowners, rising property taxes are a serious burden. Gary supports:

  • Keeping property tax caps in place — even when homes are sold
  • Requiring local millages to appear on November ballots in even-numbered years, when voter participation is highest
  • Greater transparency and accountability in property assessments

Ending Corporate Welfare

Michigan should stop picking winners and losers with taxpayer money. Gary opposes corporate subsidy programs that favor large, politically connected companies while small businesses struggle. Those dollars should be focused on local infrastructure, public safety, and tax relief — not backroom deals.

Protecting Rural Michigan's Way of Life

The 101st District is proudly rural, and Gary will fight to keep it that way. He supports:

  • Protecting farmland and private property rights
  • Opposing state overreach that forces unwanted land use changes
  • Supporting farmers and small business owners who keep rural Michigan strong

Government Accountability & Transparency

Gary believes taxpayers deserve to know how their money is spent. He supports:

  • Strong oversight of state agencies
  • Zero-based budgeting to eliminate waste
  • Clear, accessible public records
  • Ethical standards that apply to everyone in government
